You’ve got questions?
I’ve got answers!
If your question isn’t answered below, please
send me a message via the ‘Ask here’ button in the lower right corner.
How is my order packaged for shipping?
Your order gets packaged in either reused cardboard boxes or new cardboard boxes. The reused boxes are from deliveries oodles and pinches receives.
The new boxes are unbleached, plastic-free cardboard boxes. We only use vegan paper tape to close boxes. But when there is already a (plastic) tape holding a reused box closed, we don’t replace it with paper tape to save the resources.
We make sure to tightly pack the box to save on transportation space (to not ship air in boxes) and make sure the products aren’t moving around in the box. If there is wiggle room in the box we (re)use paper filling material.
How is my order shipped?
Right now we use post.nl and hurby.
If your order is shipped with post.nl you’ll get a tracking link via email. Sometimes when the transportation volume is high, it may take a bit for the tracking info to get updated. But usually, it takes only one day for the packages to arrive.
Hurby delivers in and around Haarlem. It’s a small Haarlem-based company with cute, electric mini-vans.
If you have trouble locating your package, please send me a message via the ‘Ask here’ button in the lower right corner. Since o&p has started not a single package got truly lost, so we’ll find yours too.
Shipping box disposal
It would be most eco-friendly if the shipping boxes could be reused. Maybe you want to send something or you can find someone who has a small webshop who could use them. Our boxes only have one stamp with the o&p logo, no other fancy marketing stuff and so it should be easy to reuse them, e.g. a shipping label could be placed over the stamp.
Or reuse them to store things or as a cozy place for the cat or your kids.
If none of those options present themselves in your live, please make sure to put the box in the paper recycling bin. The paper tape can stay on. If there is plastic tape on the box because it was a pre-used box, it would be best to remove it. This is not mandatory of course but it helps reduce the amount of BPA in recycled paper which originates from plastic envelope windows and plastic packaging tape.
Returns and Exchanges
How about free returns?
Some big companies offer free returns. Especially fast-fashion companies offer this. It leads to careless shopping. Many people order a lot of ‘stuff’ in different sizes, try it on at home and send most of it back because they don’t pay any shipping costs.
That the transportation for the return costs the same as the shipping to the customer gets out of focus. This is an extra cost for the company. Unfortunately, a big part of what gets send back is not sellable anymore, which contributes to more waste. Often the cost for all of this gets compensated through low wages and miserable work conditions.
That’s the story of big cooperations. oodles and pinches is a very small company and the goal here is to do conscious shopping of the things you really need.
So if you’re not certain about something, have questions about the products, please make use of the ‘Ask here’ button in the lower right corner. I have used and I am using most of those products myself and am more than happy to answer all your questions and give you some good tips about it.

Can o&p be found on any markets?
Not anymore. o&p used to attend the Biomarkt in Kweektuin in Haarlem. Since the new shop has opened, you can find o&p close to the Biomarkt on Generaal Cronjéstraat 96.
The shop is open from Tuesday to Saturday. Please double check on google maps for the correct opening hours.
I'm organizing a market, will o&p participate?
No, sorry. o&p has a permanent shop now on Generaal Cronjéstraat 96 and is open from Tuesday to Saturday.
o&p shop and pick-up location
Where is the o&p shop?
The shop is in Haarlem at Generaal Cronjéstraat 96.
During the week it is possible to drive with the car right in front of the shop and sometimes there are available parking lots on the other side of the street. It is paid parking. The machine is in front of the Thai Massage place which is just across the street from oodles and pinches.
On Saturday and Sunday the street is closed for cars.
The Cronjé Parkeergarage is very close by and can be used any day.
Can I pick up my order in Haarlem?
Currently, there is no shop and no pick-up location in Haarlem or anywhere else. If you’re in North Haarlem, you can contact me, I might have a free shipping coupon for you and may bring the order myself. Not possible everywhere in North Haarlem, but let’s talk about it.
Is the bulk food organic?
The bulk food is certified organic, but oodles and pinches as a company has no organic certification. This is due to the high, recurring cost of the organic certification.
Therefore the products in the webshop don’t show up as ‘organic oats’ or ‘organic pasta’. You can see in the ingredients list, which ingredients are organic though. In general, all bulk food in the o&p webshop is certified organic. When, at some point in the future, there may also be bulk food that is not organic, I will clearly label it as ‘conventional’.
The olive oil and magic coffee are not certified organic but of very high quality and produced with an ecologic and fair social mindset.
Is all bulk food grown in the EU or in NL?
No. I try to source as local as possible but many products just don’t grow here (eg nuts, rice, cane sugar…).
How are the food products delivered to o&p?
Most of the bulk food gets delivered in large, sturdy paper bags of 25kg. Some products like the pasta arrives in 6kg or 10kg cardboard boxes and some products require a large plastic bag, eg the cashew nuts are in a vacuum-sealed plastic bag.
All plastic bags get reused in a private household as trash bags and so reduce the number of trashbags bought.
How are the food products packaged when I order them?
The bulk food gets packaged in unbleached paper bags. They are plastic-free and recyclable with municipal paper and cardboard recycling. They are also compostable at home or via the green bin.
The bags are closed with vegan paper tape which is also recyclable and compostable.
For some bulk food items that are a bit oily, a thin extra bag is used. Those are compostable natural paper bags made of certified cellulose are intended for foodstuffs and are neither coated, lacquered nor impregnated. They are greaseproof, heat-resistant up to 200°C, breathable, odorless, and neutral in taste.
How to store the bulk food?
Your bulk food arrives in a paper bag. This is the transportation packaging. Please make sure to store your bulk food in air-tight containers. Those could be Tupperware that you already have or cleaned and dried glass jars from your supermarket shopping. Pasta sauces often come in very handy glass jars with a wide opening. Also some glass juice bottles with wide opening are available at many supermarkets.
You can also find Weck Jars in the webshop. They are stackable, entirely plastic-free, and very durable.
A larger container for dry bulk food is the 3L Bulk Food Storage Container. This is especially great for pasta, rice, beans, muesli, oats.

Please don’t send me emails requesting information or advice on how to set up your own business or zero waste shop or online business.
